It is said that “It is not only what we do, but also what we do not do, for which we must be held accountable.” We are accountable if we see the injustices the Myanmar military is committing but do nothing to defy them. Staying away from our country has not stopped us from supporting democracy. The Myanmar diaspora dreams about going back home, but also is aware of the need to continue supporting those back in the country. In this sense, “HOME” means more than a physical house; it is the land, a state of mind, a sense of belonging, and an endless definition of a political collective. Home also represents our collective responsibility in this critical period of Myanmar history. This is how the diaspora is reclaiming our home: We continue to carry out our roles and responsibilities in the revolution so we will have a future when all of us can go back home.
